The Assertiveness Game
A Northgate  Training Game

This exciting training resource game is specifically designed to raise awareness on assertive, aggressive and passive behaviour. Participants move across the game board picking up a series of cards which they share with the group. After a brief discussion on each card the team decides where exactly to place the card in the selection of boxes on the board.

There are three types of card:

'True or False' cards - teams must decide if the statement on the card, about assertive behaviour, is true or false.

'What People Say' cards - is the language used on the card 'assertive', 'non-assertive' or 'aggressive'?

'Group Task' cards - these challenge and develop ideas about assertiveness. The group's responses are noted on special forms - for reference later on during the debrief.

• Recognition of different types of behaviour
• Being more assertive and developing self-esteem
• Understanding the reasons for aggressive behaviour
• Why language is such an important part of assertiveness

Duration:     This training activity runs for 1 to 1.5 hours.

Numbers:     Up to 2 teams with 4 to 6 delegates in a team (for each training resource kit).
