Reverse Mentoring

Mentors gain much from building close working relationships and sharing experiences with mentees. Our interactive bespoke mentoring courses make mentoring meaningful for everyone

Description

When mentoring is mentioned, we usually think of a relationship where a younger or less experienced individual, the mentee, is guided and helped by an older or more experienced individual, the mentor. Usually, they’ll meet to discover more about themselves, their potential, and their strengths.

Reverse mentoring is a reimagining of the typical mentoring relationship – it recognises the insights and perspectives that younger staff can offer to senior staff, whether that be on the latest developments in technology, the trends that are taking off, or what it means to be inclusive today. Reverse mentoring makes mentoring a two-way street, ensuring that employees are constantly learning and collaborating.

Mentors from historically under-represented backgrounds in business are able to share their experiences and the difficulties they face, and highlight areas where more accommodations may be needed. Our reverse mentoring course will make these benefits a reality, and help you to implement a programme that increases connections between employees at different levels of your organisation.

  • Don’t know where to start? We’ll help you set up your reverse mentoring scheme, and give you helpful tips on how to make it a success from the very beginning. Each company’s needs are different, so we’ll make sure your programme works for you.
  • Something for everyone. This course is suitable for both junior and senior staff, who will benefit from understanding both sides of the mentoring relationship.
  • Putting it into practice. Once we’ve covered how reverse mentoring works, and what makes a successful mentoring partnership, we’ll invite delegates to practice their mentoring skills, so they can get feedback from our trainers.
  • Expert trainers. Your course will be delivered by one of our carefully selected training consultants, who have extensive experience delivering courses on this topic, to a variety of businesses. They’ll empower delegates to get the most out of their reverse mentoring scheme.
  • Useful accompanying workbook. We’ll provide delegates with a comprehensive and interactive workbook that they can fill in and take home with them. They’ll be able to refer to this document when they’re preparing to start their reverse mentoring partnership.
  • Understand the role, characteristics and skills of an effective mentor
  • Build rapport and create a development environment
  • Assess individual needs and learning styles
  • Give appropriate feedback, and handle resistance to constructive criticism
  • Practice reflective listening
  • Make effective action plans to develop the performance of individuals
  • Collaborate in developing strategies to create a more inclusive work environment.
